Yulwaarri Dugulaarra (pronounced Yul-waah-dee Duh-gul-aah-da) is a painting created to celebrate the Marriage of Helen and Ed. The stars in the sky represent both Helen and Ed, along with Caitlin (three stars towards the centre of the work), both sets of parents are depicted through the smaller stars on either side of the painting and all of the siblings are depicted by the circular stars.
The movement in the stars is a depiction of the beating heart and the gentle flow of taking a breath.
The patterns and mark making within the lower half of the artwork are symbolic of the various pathways and journey’s both Helen and Ed’s lives have taken to get them to where they are today. The marks represent a journey, a coming together, familial connections and moving forward together.
Their love and connection to each other is evident to all who know them.
